Background
In 1996, the Kirby Pines Board
established a 501c(3) Kirby Pines
Foundation. Its mission is to
provide philanthropic support for
residents who, through no fault of
their own, have problems meeting
their financial obligation to the
Kirby Pines Retirement Community.
Throughout the ensuing years, the
Foundation’s support has proved
to be a timely resource as need for
financial assistance continues into
the present.
In addition to residents who
qualify for financial assistance,
who else benefits by supporting
the mission of the Kirby Pines
Foundation?
All Residents
Residentsmaymake donations to
the Foundation, includingmemorials
or honoraria for loved ones. The
donations are charitable gifts and
may be included in resident’s annual
IRS income tax filing.

Residents’ Families
When a Resident has passed
away, the family may donate
furniture and other household items
to the Foundation. When items
wanted by the family have been
removed, and the door and mail box
keys have been returned to Kirby
Pines Management, the Foundation
will remove all remaining items. The
family is thus spared the chore of
emptying the living accommodation.
The Foundation will have
estate sales for those donated items,
with the proceeds added to funds
available to meet future needs. The
family also will be able to claim
a value of the items given to the
Foundation, when filing the Estate’s
final income tax with the IRS.

We know Kirby Pines resident Lou
Anders must be bursting with pride at the
news! Her grandniece Danielle Bradbery
was named the Season 4 winner on the
two-hour season finale of The Voice. The
16-
year-old country singer tried to collect
her thoughts and could barely get through
her victory performance because of her
tears.
Danielle was one of Blake Shelton’s
two acts in the final three “voices” in the
competition finale and the youngest of all
the singers this season.
Congratulations Lou and Danielle. We
are so excited for you both!
