The Pinecone | July 2019 • 3 • welcome to 3535 Kirby Road • Memphis, TN 38115 Margaret Jane Miller comes to Kirby Pines from her home she shared with her late husband Raymond in McMinnville, Tennessee, which lies between Nashville and Knoxville. The two were married 56 years and have two children. Richard, who resides in Collierville and John, who lives in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She also has four grandchildren and seven great-grands. She and Raymond graduated from the University of Illinois, where he received a degree in engineering and she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology andWelfareAdministration. Raymond became a manufacturing engineer and worked on government contracts, moving the family around throughout his career. Margaret worked as a homemaker and raising the boys. Raymond passed away in 2006. Margaret recently had four friends from McMinnville visit at her at Kirby Pines, and when asked how her friends would describe her, she simply said, "Interesting". Considering her favorite holiday is April Fool's Day, it rather makes sense! She enjoys playing bridge, her favorite family recipe is cornbread dressing and she loves Dungeness crab. She has traveled to Europe, South America, Africa, Great Britain and Greece, citing London as her favorite spot. Margaret is proud of her family and loves her friends, which are the perfect attributes for anyone at Kirby Pines to have. So if you see Margaret in the dining room, the hallways or anywhere on campus, give her a big Kirby welcome and let her know we are excited to have her here.
