The Pinecone | September 2019 • 3 • welcome to 3535 Kirby Road • Memphis, TN 38115 Mike and Lynn Metzenthin have been married seven years, spending the last two in Bartlett before making the move to Kirby Pines. Lynn has three daugh- ters from a previous marriage and has nine grandchildren. Mike attended Woodbury College and Long Beach State and received his de- gree in finance and economics. He then served in the US Navy on the USS Ticondaroga aircraft carrier during Vietnam. He was self-employed in in- vestments and real estate finance from 1970 to 2016 . Lynn went to Mid-South Bible College in the late 60s, then at- tended Crichton College, graduating in 1999. She studied project management and she worked in investment banking operations. She worked for Solomon Brothers, First Tennessee and others and became Assistant Vice President. Lynn enjoys reading, staying in touch with friends on Facebook and visiting family. Her favorite movies are any- thing with John Wayne. Mike still likes investing and talking to friends on the phone. Between the two of them they have traveled many places including Ireland, Australia. Singapore and the Philip- pines. We are so glad the Metzenthins are here at Kirby Pines. If you have not yet met them, make sure you say hello and make them feel right at home. Mike & Lynn Metzenthin Barbara Hanrahan Barbara Hanrahan comes to Kirby Pines from her home in Memphis, which she shared with her late husband, Bill, since 1982. He passed away in 2012, they were married 54 years, had a son (de- ceased) and a daughter. She has three grandchildren, including a set of twins and seven great-grands. Bill was a Master Seargent in the US Marine Corps, stationed in Hawaii during the Korean War. He worked 40 years as a packaging superintendent for Schlitz and Stroh's. Barbara taught pre-school while they lived in Winston- Salem, North Carolina, then worked as a sales associate for Middleton Jewelers for 20 years. The two were born in Milwaukee, Wis- consin, but also lived in Tampa, Flori- da, Winston-Salem, Upstate New York and Longview, Texas before moving to Memphis. Barbara enjoys exercising, reading, walking and collecting angels and bells. Her favorite author is Mary Higgins Clark and is a country music fan. She is very well traveled having visited Ire- land, England, Scotland, Germany, Ita- ly, Monaco and France to name a few. We are so happy Barbara decided to make Kirby Pines her new home. She will fit right in with all the wonderful activities available to her and we hope she acclimates quickly. If you run into her, let her know we're glad she's here. Bob & Jane Longfield Bob and Jane Longfield were both born in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to Kirby Pines from Lakeland, Tennessee. They have been married 58 years, with two children and five grandchildren - in- cluding a set of triplets! Bob graduated from the University of Illinois in 1966. He has a Master's De- gree in Civil Engineering, which led him to work in the traffic and trans- portation field. He worked as a Senior Project Manager for HB&A, URS and AECOM for a total of 38 years. Jane was an executive secretary for 13 years at AAA South in Tampa, Florida. She attended classes at University of Mem- phis, worked for Leadership Memphis, was president of Scenic Hills Women's Association and a member of their Gar- den Club as well. The Longfields have many interests. He enjoys photography and wood-working, while she likes knitting, collecting sea shells, crafts, card-making and reading - her favorite is the Mitford Series of books by Jan Karon. Bob likes the Oak Ridge Boys and Jane, The Beatles. Jane roots for the Chicago White Sox and Bob pulls for the Chi- cago Cubs - a house divided. The Longfields both love Christmas, so we know they'll enjoy the holidays at Kirby Pines. We are thrilled they have chosen to live here and we know they will be welcomed with open arms.
