Get to know Kirby Pines' NEW RESIDENTS Carol Scarberry is one of our newest residents at Kirby Pines, moving from Snow Lake Shores, Mississippi. She and Floyd, her late husband of 38 years, had a son, John. After attending the University of Mem- phis and majoring in business and ac- counting, Carol went into the hair styling business. She owned and operated Caro- lyn’s Hairstyling for 30 years. Later she was a stylist at Gould’s Styling and Spa for 10 years. She also served on the Ten- nessee Hair Fashion Committee. Carol and Floyd enjoyed traveling throughout most of the United States in- cluding Hawaii. They took a cruise to the Caribbean Islands. Carol should find new friends here at Kir- by who share similar interests. She en- joys reading and studying about history. To stay active, she walks. Like so many of our residents she will enjoy walking our beautiful campus this spring. Staying involved with her church activities will keep Carol busy. When you meet Carol, give her a warm Kirby welcome and invite her to partic- ipate in our activities listed in The Pine- cone. We are so glad Carol chose Kirby Pines for her new home. Carol Scarberry Linda Case We are elated to welcome Linda Case to Kirby Pines Retirement Community. This friendly and outgoing lady is looking for- ward to making new friends and getting involved in our lifestyle here at Kirby. Linda moved to Kirby from her previous home in the Cordova area of Memphis. She is the proud mother of 2 children and the grandmother to her granddaughter Grace. After attending college for 2 years, Lin- da became a mortgage specialist with Evolve Bank and Trust. While working in banking she honed her customer service and people skills. It was only natural for Linda to become a traveler. Her father was with Boeing Air- craft and he took his family on semi-an- nual trips throughout the United States. A memorable trip for Linda is the one she took to Hawaii for her high school re- union. She also has fond memories of vis- iting her grandparents In Murphy, North Carolina. Linda’s varied interests include: collect- ing and listening to old vinyl records (es- pecially country and John Denver), fol- lowing NASCAR Racing (mainly Rusty Wallace), watching Hallmark movies and cooking oysters (Rockefeller and Bien- ville). When you meet Linda, you’ll find her friendly, fun loving and anxious to meet new people. Extend to her a warm Kirby welcome, she is a good fit for our com- munity. Freda & Phil Clements Married for 67 years, Phil and Freda have moved to Kirby Pines from their home in Rossville. Tennessee. They are the proud parents of 7 children, grandparents to 26 grandchildren and soon to be 27 great- grands. Phil went to Trinity College and John Brown University. He earned his degree in Christian Education and pastored sev- eral churches for over 40 years. Most re- cently, he was associate pastor of Central Church in Memphis for 22 years. Freda received her degree in Biblical Education from Trinity College and was a Pastor’s wife and homemaker. Their visit to Israel is their favorite desti- nation. Their traveling has also included trips to Guatemala, Kenya, Alaska, Ha- waii, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Germany and Egypt. They have many ex- periences to share about these trips. Kentucky Colonel and Man of the Year are 2 titles bestowed on Phil while living in Kentucky. Freda won a senior citizen spelling award and she placed in the Mid- south Talent competition. To stay active and avoid getting bored; Phil has collected coins, license plates, stamps and antiques while Freda collected postcards. With the move, collecting has slowed down and they are enjoying Sudoku, Scrabble, and crossword puzzles. This is a couple you surely will want to seek out and welcome. They are warm, friendly, and will fascinate you with sto- ries of their life adventures. We are very happy to have them as neighbors!
