Aug 26: Magnum: Unfinished Business Quang Ki, the man who shot and almost killed Magnum and wants to kill Michelle and Lily Catherine, is on trial for attempt- ed murder when the case is suddenly dis- missed. Showtime 1:30 pm . Aug 27: The Book Baggers The book this month is “Delta Rainbow: The Irrepressible Betty Bobo Pearson“. The author, Sally Palmer Thomason, will be with us. Another local author, Sally wrote her first book at age 63. That was 20 years ago. She is still writing with a new book scheduled to come out soon. Whether you read or would like to hear about books being discussed, come and check us out. The Book Baggers meet the 4th Tuesday of every month in the Chapel at 9:30 am. Aug 27: Somewhere In Time In 1972, playwright Richard Collier be- comes fascinated by a photo of Elise McKenna, a turn-of-the-century stage ac- tress, while staying at the Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan. As Richard’s obsession grows, he learns from a friend that time travel may actually be possible through hypnosis. Richard travels in time to meet Elise, and the two appear des- tined to be together. However, Elise’s jeal- ous manager attempts to keep them apart. Showtimes 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm. Aug 28: Carousel of Shoppes Enjoy a day of shopping and fun at our fifth Annual Kirby Carousel of Shoppes. A variety of vendors including Chico’s, Dil- lard’s Carriage Crossing, and Dinstuhl’s will be here with an array of merchandise to choose from in the PAC. There will be door prizes and light refreshments for all to enjoy from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Ante Room. What a great way to spend time with your friends and start your hol- iday shopping. Aug 29: Theatre Memphis: Mamma Mia Energetic and Irresistible. Set on a re- mote Greek island, a young girl plans her wedding while trying to discover who of three men may be her father so he can walk her down the aisle. Mix in an unsus- pecting mother (who has single-handedly created a vacation taverna) and her old friends from a “girl group” and the scene becomes a dancing, prancing, elaborate production of musical chairs as they all discover the true meaning of love. Aug 30: Music with Hank & Stan Hank Sable moved to Memphis in 1993 to open a vintage guitar store across from the Peabody Hotel. He met Memphis mu- sicians and began performing regularly. Hank has been a member of the Joyce Cobb band for 15 years, playing every Sunday for the Boscos’ brunch. Hank also performs with Nora Tucker, at the River Inn, and at Paulette’s. A long-time Cre- ative Aging musician, Hank plays guitar and violin. Memphis born Woodwinds Master, Stan Jackson was exposed to mu- sic at an early age. He plays flute, percus- sion and keyboards. Stan has worked with music industry notables Quincy Jones, Jackson Brown and Kirk Whalum. Don’t miss this Dynamic duo at 6:00 pm in the Lobby.
