The Pinecone | December 2022 • 3 • New Resident Bios written by resident, Peggy Reynolds Gatlin Get to know Kirby Pines' Bob Westcot was born in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina and moved to Kirby Pines from his former home in Memphis. He is the proud father of three children and grandparent to six grandchildren. After attending University of Memphis, Middle Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt, Bob earned a BA degree in Business Administration with emphasis in marketing industrial management. He had a 40 plus year career with Ford Motor Company and the Landers Group as a fleet trainer. Traveling has brought much joy to Bob, especially the New York World’s Fair, the Oshkosh Air Show and other destinations throughout the U.S.A. Bob’s friends describe him as a “car and airplane nut.” An “Auto Hobbiest”, Bob collects scale to full size automobiles and scale sized air craft. He is very proud of the antique cars he has built which include: 1932,1934,1940 Fords a 1956 Chevrolet and also a 1950 Oldsmobile. Welcome Bob! We hope you are finding that moving to Kirby Pines was a great decision and you are making new friends that share your interests. We look forward to seeing you driving around our Kirby Pines campus! BobWescot Pat & Bankie McCarty Charles Patrick (Pat) McCarty was born in Helena, Arkansas and Memphis was Mary Banks (Bankie) McCarty’s birthplace. Becoming lifelong friends while 8th graders, the McCartys have been married for over 59 years and have three children and seven grandchildren. Pat went to Vanderbilt University, The University of Arkansas and The University of Memphis, earning a degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and worked as chief financial officer for Osceola/Creative Foods for 20 years. Bankie earned a B.S. in education after attending Southwestern College (now Rhodes) and The University of Arkansas. She taught English for almost 30 years in Tennessee and Arkansas. This couple stay quite busy with their hobbies and interests. Pat enjoys hunting, reading, playing card games (especially Bridge), and Bible study. Cooking, Bible study, grandchildren activities, and handcrafts keep Bankie from getting bored. Their travels include a tour of the British Isles and a number of cruises to Europe, the U.S. eastern coast, Canada and Hawaii. You will find Pat and Bankie are a good fit for our retirement community. This outgoing couple are out and about, already taking an active role in our Kirby lifestyle. We are so happy they chose Kirby Pines for their new home. NEW RESIDENTS
