Get to know Kirby Pines' Moving from her former home in Germantown, Barbara has moved to Kirby Pines for the next chapter of her life. Barbara earned her degrees in Business Administration and Education from the University of Memphis and was part owner of Smith Pool Services for over 50 years. A mother of 3 boys and 3 grandchildren, she says her greatest accomplishment was raising her boys. As a soccer mom, she cheered at many games. She enjoys movies, exercise, traveling and art. Christmas and Thanksgiving are her favorite holidays. She picked a perfect time to move to Kirby Pines. Barbara will certainly be delighted with her first holiday season here with all the decorations and events. Europe and Australia are the destinations Barbara has traveled. She especially enjoyed traveling in Europe. Service oriented, Barbara has been recognized for volunteering at a special needs school. Barbara says she is a collector of a little bit of everything, better known as “knick knacks.” To stay active, she likes to exercise and has already joined the chair yoga class. When you meet Barbara, you’ll have an immediate new friend. She is easy going and simply enjoys time just being together. Find Barbara, give her a big Kirby hug, sit down and get to know her. Welcome Barbara! Barbara Smith Marilyn McNicol Marilyn recently moved to Kirby Pines from her former home of 40 years in Cutn-shoot, TX. She was born in Provincetown, Maine and raised by her grandmother until she was 10 years old. Married for 66 years, she and her late husband have two children, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grands. Marilyn was a homemaker and mother. She is proud of being called the “Best Mom” and “Proud Mom” for the success of her accomplished children. Reading, jigsaw puzzles, being outdoors, gardening and swimming are Marilyn’s hobbies and interests. To stay active, Marilyn likes to keep moving, walking and swimming. Marilyn will certainly fit into our KP lifestyle. She also collects matchbooks and coffee mugs. When you meet Marilyn, you’ll find out why friends describe Marilyn as independent and helpful when called upon. We are happy Marilyn chose Kirby Pines for her new home.
