Kirby Pines Retirement Community | The Pinecone

The Pinecone | February 2019 • 3 • welcome to 3535 Kirby Road • Memphis, TN 38115 All new resident bios are written by Peggy Reynolds Gatlin, Kirby Pines Resident One of our new residents, Mary Ann Walker, joins the many former nurses we have at Kirby Pines. Mary Ann was a registered nurse for 25 years before retiring. Mary Ann and her late husband, Fred, were married for almost 64 years and had two children, Dirk Edward and Lee Ann. Now Mary Anne has four grandchildren and six great- grands to enjoy. Before moving to Kirby Pines, she lived in Germantown but after selling her home she has been spending time with her son in Denver, Colorado and with her daughter in Nyack, New York. Reading, traveling, art appreciation, church, family and friends keep Mary Ann very busy. She has traveled to Europe, The Holy Land, Jordan, The Seven Churches of Asia in Turkey, Mexico and all of the U.S.A. except Hawaii. Her varied reading interests make Mary Ann a perfect fit for the Book Baggers. It will be difficult to keep up with this busy lady. She already has many friends at Kirby Pines. She enjoys doing activities with her friends, walking and mild exercise. Besides her traveling and reading interests, in the past she was involved in the Jacettes and the Shelby County Republican Women’s Organizations. I know you will find a very interesting friend when you get acquainted with Mary Ann. She loves living at Kirby Pines and will be a real asset to our retirement community. So if you see her down the hallway or sitting in the dining room, make sure to give her smile or stop and say hello so she feels right at home.
