Sail on the M/V Andrea from Ushuaia (the city at the end of the world), Argentina down the Bea- gle Channel and across the Drake Pas- sage to the Antarctic Peninsular. Walk among colonies of Gentoo, Adelie, and Chinstrap penguins and sail into the Weddell Sea looking for Emperor Penguins. View Leopard, Weddell, El- ephant, and Crabeater Seals. Swim in the icy waters of Deception Bay. Join the group at 9:30 am in the PAC or watch on live TV on Channel 10 for this informa- tive presentation. Feb 9: Secondhand Lions Secondhand Lions is a 2003 American comedy-drama film written and direct- ed by TimMcCanlies. It tells the story of an introverted young boy who is sent to live with his eccentric great-uncles on a farm in Texas. Showtime 1:30 pm in the Theater. Feb 9: Birthday Night with The Jim Mahannah Band Welcome back our old friends JimMah- hanah and his Band. Let them know how much that you miss them! Be sure and join in at 6:30 pm in the PAC or dance in your apartment with them on Live TV 10 at 6:30 pm. Feb 10: Garden Club Meeting Spring is just around the corner. We will plant seeds in the greenhouse on March 3rd. It will be great for all of us to get our hands back in the dirt!!!!! Be sure and show up to see your Garden Gro’er Friends! Playing guitars and mandolins, they’ve appeared on MTV, BBC, and have been a part of the mu- sic scene in London, England and New York City, having lived and performed in both. Be sure and join in for this up- beat fun music at 6:00 pm in PAC or on Live TV 10. Feb 13 & 27: Saturday Trivia The Kirby Pines Trivia Group meets at 6:15 pm in The Chapel on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. All residents are welcome to attend this noncompetitive activity, and are en- couraged to participate, or just listen and enjoy. Usually, but not always, there will be a theme for each of the meetings. Trivia questions can be presented on any topic. Our support group meets the 3rd Wednesday of ev- ery month in the Small Card Room at 10:00 We find support as well as com- forting suggestions for unique prob- lems. Caregiving can be very difficult. Come be a part of our group. Feb 17: The Green Book It’s 1962 and Dr. Don Shirley, an Afri- can-American pianist, is going on tour in the Deep South. In need of a driver, he hires Tony Lip, an Italian-American who works as a bouncer. Armed only with the ‘Negro Motorist Green Book,’ an essential guide to safe travel for peo- ple of color in the Jim Crow era, the unlikely pair develop an understanding for one another and a surprising bond. Feb 18 : Charlie Day One of everyone's favorite days is Char- lie Day, when we have scrambled eggs, country ham, grits with red eye gravy and best of all Charlie’s homemade bis- cuits, accompanied by jams and jellies ordered from his home state in Virginia.
