• 16 • The Pinecone | January 2021 Jan 18: Music with Hank & Stan Hank Sable moved to Memphis in 1993 to open a vintage guitar store across from the Peabody Hotel. He met Mem- phis musicians and began performing regularly. Hank has been a member of the Joyce Cobb band for 15 years, playing every Sunday for the Bos- cos’ brunch. Hank also performs with Nora Tucker, at the River Inn, and at Paulette’s. A long-time Creative Aging musician, Hank plays guitar and vio- lin. Memphis born Woodwinds Master, Stan Jackson was exposed to music at an early age. He plays flute, percussion and keyboards. Stan has worked with music industry notables Quincy Jones, Jackson Brown and Kirk Whalum. He performed frequently in the cast of Puc- cini's La Boheme with the Los Angeles Opera. Jan 26: The Book Baggers Rhetta Watkins will be leading the dis- cussion for this month’s read, “The Pow- er of One” by Sally Palmer Thomason. Sally Thomason was with us August, 2019 when we discussed her book, “Del- ta Rainbow.” At that time Sally told us that she was just finishing “The Power of One” and told us about her research for this book. It will be great to hear Rhet- ta and your comments at the meeting. Join is 9:30 am in the PAC or on Live TV Channel 10. Jan 26: Run the Race All-star athlete Zach Truett finds glory on the high school football field -- work- ing to earn a college scholarship and a ticket out of town. When a devastating knee injury forces Zach to the sidelines, his brother laces up his cleats to com- pete in track and field. Despite the set- back, there seems to be one silver lining for Zach -- he soon develops a budding relationship with a young nurse who works at the hospital.
