June 1: Mahjong with Jody Join Jody on Fridays at 10:00 am in the Ante to learn the ancient Chinese game of Mahjong. June 1: Music with Tim Stanek and Julie Christian Julie “Chanteuse” Christen’s singing is as playful as it is soulful; classic show tunes dipped into the blues. Her career as a sing- er spans forty years, performing in choirs, small groups, and “Perfect Alibi,” a classic rock band. Tim “The Reverend” Stanek’s piano playing is fun and creative, rooted in the blues, and seasoned with years of jazz and ragtime. Join them in the Lobby at 6:00 pm. June 2: Men’s Christian Fellowship The Men’s Christian Fellowship meets ev- ery Saturday morning in the Ante Room at 7:30 am. There is a rotating list of resi- dent speakers who give a devotion at each meeting. Come enjoy coffee and fellow- ship with us each week. June 2: Duplicate Bridge If you play “Bridge”, come try “Duplicate”, No Masterpoints, just fun! Every Monday and Saturday morning from 9:00 am to noon in the Large Card Room. June 4: Get Fit with Oasis Coordinator Mary Hand Advanced Water Aerobics classes will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays at 8:30 am. Basic and Beginning Water Aero- bics is on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9:30 am. Men’s Water Aerobics are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8:30 am. Ar- thritis Sit/Stand classes are on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 11:00 am in the PAC. June 4: First Monday Poetry Group Come to listen; come to read; come to re- cite from memory. Everyone is welcome. Check out “The Poet’s Corner” on the post office bulletin board where a residen- tial poet will be featured each month. We meet the first Monday of every month in the Ante Room at 10:00 am. June 4: Focus on Color Coloring books are incredibly simple, portable, easy to pick up and put down, and a colored–in page takes up almost no space at all. So come to the Arts and Crafts Room the first and third Monday at 10:00 am. June 4: Mahjong Join in and play Mahjong every Monday at 1:15 pm in the SCR. June 4: MagnumPI: Murder 101 The class on private investigation that Magnum teaches gets involved in a bi- zarre case that leads all the way to the Treasury Department. 1:30 pm in the Movie Theater. June 4: Tai Chi Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of ex- ercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Every Monday in the PAC at 2:00 pm. June 4: Bingo Night Join us for a fun-filled evening of BINGO! Entry costs only $1 per card, with an op- portunity to win up to two prizes. Every Monday night at 6:30 pm in the PAC. June 5: Medical Director Dr. Mike Abutineh MD Will be in the Wellness Clinic Tuesdays 9:00 am -12:00 pm and Thursdays 1:00- 4:30 pm. Appointments required. June 5: Alzheimer’s Support Group If you’re interested in learning about Alzheimer’s, you are a caregiver or have a loved one this disease, please give this group a try. We had a great meeting last month with Lara Pate from the Midsouth Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Starting in July she will be coming the 3rd Wednesday of the month so you can plan ahead. The meetings will take place at 10:00 am in the LCR. June 5: BUNKO Join this fun group of folks every Tuesday at 1:30 pm in the LCR for the great game of BUNKO. June 5: Kidnap A typical afternoon in the park turns into a nightmare for single mother Karla Dys- on when kidnappers snatch her young son Frankie. With no cellphone and no time to wait for police, Dyson jumps into her car to follow the vehicle that holds Frankie. Showtimes 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm in the Theater. June 5: Poetry Club Tea Join us for a poetry tea presented by the Poetry Group on Tuesday, June 5 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the PAC. A good time will be had by all! June 6: Traveler’s Meeting Don’t miss the Traveler’s Meeting to hear about upcoming outings and events out- side the community. All are invited to join this fun loving group of folks. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 10:00 am in the LCR. June 6: Peach World Farmer’s Market Kirby Pines Farmers Market brought to you by Peach World will be back in the Lobby every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. I know we all can’t wait for those homegrown tomatoes, peaches, peas and other wonderful fresh produce. June 6: Yoga Stretch Yoga is known to have a wide range of benefits. This is not advanced so don’t worry about getting on the floor and not being able to get up. You will be sitting in a chair or standing. Class is every Wednes- day at 10:30 am in the PAC. June 6: Spanish Class Join Spanish Class every Wednesday at 1:30 pm in the Ante Room. Bridget is now dedication half of the class to new stu- dents and the second half to refresh and teach advanced folks.
