June 6: Joseph and the Amaz- ing Technicolor Dreamcoat The youth group from First United Meth- odist will be back to bring to us the Bib- lical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors to vibrant life in this delightful mu- sical parable. This is a don’t miss Perfor- mance at 6:30 pm in the PAC. June 7: Winds of War Part 1: The Winds Rise Spring 1939, the winds of war that will soon engulf the world are starting to stir. It’s also a time of change for United States Navy Commander Victor “Pug” Henry who, accompanied by his wife Rhoda, arrives in Berlin to assume his new ap- pointment as naval attaché’ to the U.S. Embassy. Pug is unaware that he and his family – scattered around the globe, from Poland to the pacific – are about to expe- rience the most harrowing and adventur- ous years of their lives. June 7: Carnival Memphis Don’t miss the opportunity to come down to the Lobby and join the fun at 1:45 pm as we welcome King Jim Taylor and Queen Ellen Horn of Carnival Memphis along with their frisky friends, the Boll Weevils! June 7: Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park Peanuts, popcorn & Crackers Jack. Hop on the bus and head down to AutoZone Park to watch the Redbirds faceoff with the Tacoma Rainiers. First Pitch at 7:05. June 8: Book Signing with Lisa Wingate Lisa Wingate will be talking about her book, “Before We Were Yours” (See page 8). Books will be available for purchase, including “Dandelion Summer”, her pre- vious title. Starts at 2:00 pm in the PAC. Refreshments will be served. June 8: Music with Memphis Heart Duo Adam Levine-keyboards/vocals and Steve Corbett-guitar play song memories to brighten your day. Both musicians have been part of the Memphis music scene for many years. Their performances are fun and energetic, and always include au- dience participation. Be sure and come down to the Lobby at 6:00 pm. June 9 & 23: Through the Bible Through the Bible is a study of the Bible led by Gail Kommer and Barbara Hyland, meeting the 2nd and 4th Saturday of ev- ery month at 10:00 am in the Small Card Room. Bring a Bible and notebook. Join this group of ladies who enjoy learning about God’s Word. All are welcome. June 9 & 23: Trivia Night Come play trivia if you like to play just for fun, non competitive. Meet the gang in the Lobby every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 6:15 pm. June 10: Wind Group: Sanctifica Talk a walk down Memory Lane with mu- sic from Gershwin to Gospel. These folks are from St George’s Episcopal Church and feature Dr Tom Hickey. June 12: Rudy Rudy Ruettiger wants to play football at the University of Notre Dame, but has neither the money for tuition nor the grades to qualify for a scholarship. Show- time is 1:30 pm. June 12: Birthday Night with The Double D Band The Double D Band plays a wide range of songs and genres, but especially music from the 50’s. Playing guitars and man- dolins, they’ve appeared on MTV, BBC, and have been a part of the music scene in London, England and New York City, having lived and performed in both. Don’t miss this dynamic Duo at 6:30 pm in the PAC. June 13-14: Travelers Outing: Downtown Riding Tour The Travelers are going downtown where Jimmy Ogle, Memphis Historian, will board the bus for a Memphis Drive Around History Tour. They will eat lunch at Uncle Buck’s at Bass Pro. They will be going 2 days in a row to accommodate ev- eryone, June 13th and 14th leaving Kirby at 9:30 am. They plan to be back by 2:00 pm. Please call 682-1529 for more information or to schedule a visit. June 13: Garden Club Meeting We are watering almost daily. Young to- mato plants require more water than older plants. Too little water and the plant dies, too much and the plant gets end rot and fruit split. So, try and keep a happy medium. Prune your plants by sucker re- moval. Also remove the lower 3-4 inches of branches. No leaves should touch the ground. Tie up your plants. You can’t have too many ties. No fertilizer now. Keep your bed weed free. Onions are ready for picking. Look for little finger size for good
