June 6: Bible Study with Dave Phillips Join Germantown Church of Christ’s Dave Phillips as he leads a group Bible Study every Thursday at 10:00 am in the Chapel. All denominations invited. June 6: Mini Series: Sherlock In this modernized version of the Conan Doyle characters, using his detective plots, Sherlock Holmes lives in early 21st century London and acts more cocky to- wards Scotland Yard’s detective inspector Lestrade because he’s actually less confi- dent. Doctor Watson is now a fairly young veteran of the Afghan war, less adoring and more active. This mini-series will be played every Thursday at 1:30 pm except for June 6, due to Carnival Memphis it will start at 2:00 pm. June 6: Orpheum: Anastasia This dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. June 7: Art with Helen Whether you are already an artist or would like to learn, join teacher Helen Gaines on Fridays at 10:00 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. June 7: Music with Brad Birkedahl Brad Birkedahl is best known for his work with rockabilly trio, The Dempseys. To- day Birkedahl has expanded his rock n’ roll repertoire with a powerhouse stage show. He will be playing at 6:00 pm in the Lobby. June 8 & 22: Through the Bible Through the Bible is a study of the Bible led by Gail Kommer and Barbara Hyland, meeting the 2nd and 4th Saturday of ev- ery month at 10:00 am in the Small Card Room. Bring a Bible and notebook. Join this group of ladies who enjoy learning about God’s Word. All are welcome. June 10: Magnum: Pleasure Principle Appearances by ghostly Mac bedevil Magnum as he tries to understand why his personality traits are suddenly appear- ing in Higgins. Showtime 1:30 pm. June 11: Birthday Night with The Side Street Steppers The Side Street Steppers are a page from Americas past, playing rare and popular music from the 1920s and 30s. Dubbed the Golden Age of Gramophone Record- ing, the two decades between 1920 and World War II saw the rise of jazz and the birth of the blues, the demise of ragtime and the emergence of hillbilly music that would become known through the world as country music. The Side Street Step- pers present a pastiche of this transforma- tion of the American musical landscape, performing on vintage and homemade instruments. Get ready for plenty of hip- shaking, foot stompin', caterwauling and croonin'. Join all the fun at 6:30 pm in the PAC. June 12: Garden Club Meeting The tomatoes are falling after the rains so ties are available on the picnic table. On- ions are up and should be ready for pick- ing in 2 weeks. Red, white and yellow in rows 2, 4 and 5. Weed your bed, the nut grass is also growing. Be sure and sucker your tomato plants, the fertilizer, mag- nesium and calcium packs will be ready June 1. They will be placed at the front desk with your name on them. May be applied in June. Even in rain, check your pot. They dry quickly, keep moist but not wet. Come on down to the Greenhouse every 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30 am rain or shine and dig in!
