They first lived in Heidelberg, Germany, when Andy was in the Army. After 51 years of marriage, they have one son, Jonathan and two grandchildren, Aidan and Jordan. Andy was ranked Spec 5 and was a writer/medcom examiner. He was also assigned to the 7th Army Soldier's Chorus. He graduated from Harding University in 1967 with a BA in Speech and received his Masters in Theater from University of Memphis in 1969. He became a teacher of science and fine arts and was also theater director at Memphis University School for 38 years. Jean graduated from Harding University in 1968 with a Bachelors in English. She also worked at Memphis University School as Database Manager and Manager of Advancement Services. Andy's interests include singing and woodworking, while Jean enjoys pilates, jogging, knitting and needlework. Andy is still active in the Germantown Community Theater. He was even honored as Volunteer of the Year for his efforts. At MUS Jean was awarded the Jean Barbee Hale Award for Outstanding Service. These two have traveled to all the US states, except Alaska and Montana. Of course, Andy saw much of Europe during his Army stint. Jean's favorite trip, however, was visiting the Holy Land with Andy's uncle and father. We are pleased to have Andy and Jean join us at our wonderful retirement community. Just seeing their interests and hobbies, it seems they will find plenty of places to fit in and meet new friends. Make sure you give them a hearty Kirby Pines welcome and help them find their way around their new home and all the activities that come with it. Andy & J ean Saunde r s Da l e & Pe t e r J ones Peter and Dale Jones come to Kirby Pines from right here in Memphis, Tennessee. He then went on to receive his PhD in Biochemistry from Duke University. He worked as a Biochemistry Lecturer at Victoria University from 1969 to 1972 and became a Professor of Molecular Sciences at the UT Center for Health Sciences from 1972 to 2007, here in Memphis. She spent a year working for Duke University Hospital and went on to teach nursery school at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis from 1980 to 1992, and then became a clinical dietician at Allen Morgan Health Center until 2004, all while raising three children. They both enjoy reading, travelling, exercise and working on photobooks based on their travels. They have traveled extensively the past 10-12 years and have visited all seven continents and over 70 different countries. To stay active the two workout at Ric Nuber YMCA, where Peter walks four miles a day and Dale participates in Tai Chi, yoga and water aerobics. There is simply far too much to tell about this lovely couple in this short space, so if you see them out and about, give them a big hello and get to know them for yourself. We are very happy they have chosen Kirby Pines as their home and we can't wait to see what they choose to do for fun!
