Jun 8: Olympus Has Fallen Director Antoine Fuqua’s action thriller stars Gerard Butler as a disgraced Secret Service agent who must come to the res- cue when Korean terrorists descend on the White House and take the president hostage. Jun 9: Brazil Brazil covers the music of artists in- cluding Michael Franks, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Lionel Richie, Charlie Pride, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole and many others. Please call 682-1529 for more informa- tion or to schedule a visit. Jun 10: Garden Club Meeting If you are planting lettuce in your trellis, do not puncture the fabric. Plant along with your tomatoes, the heat will kill it this summer. Tie your tomatoes to ¼ inch. Work on your weeds, nut grass is on the way. Tickle your tomatoes, this promotes pollen to loosen and gives you a higher yield. Kirby will water and fer- tilize your plants. Do not walk or stand in the beds, you could fall or plant weed seeds. Come on down to the Green- house every 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30 am rain or shine and dig in! Jun 10: Sweet Home Alabama Melanie abandons her Alabama roots and high school-sweetheart husband in favor of Manhattan’s glamorous social circles, where she attracts a handsome Park Avenue boyfriend. Jun 12: Concert with Suzanne and Jim Suzanne and Jim are musicians who explore new directions by looking back into the roots of Americana music and lore. The husband and wife team blend their voices and instruments in songs of an earlier time. The stories told by these old songs (and the stories behind the songs) not only relate tales of a bygone era but open a window into the origins of our modern culture. Jun 13 & 27: Saturday Triva The Kirby Pines Trivia Group meets at 6:15 pm in the Chapel on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend, participate, or just listen and enjoy. There will not be a THEME for either the June 13 or for the June 27 meetings. Trivia questions on any topic can be presented - anything goes. Jun 13: Creative Writing Class Memphis author Susan Cushman will be leading a creative writing workshop on the second Monday of each month. She is the author of three books--a memoir, a novel, and a short story collection. She is also editor of three anthologies of es- says by other authors. This is for anyone with any interest in creative writing, at any level of experience, including be- ginners.
