We are some God fearing ladies, family oriented, friendly and loyal. We strive on building each other up, we take pride in ourselves and are devoted to our family, jobs, friends and community. Describe yourself in five words: Respectful, committed, kind, generous and independent. What is your favorite thing about your job: Hearing the stories of the residents, being genuinely real, but playful and polite. I love to hear them laugh and even see the meanest person smile. What do you do for fun: Family vacations, girl trips. I like walks with sceneries, playing with my grandson, holding my granddaughter, playng cards, softball, basketball, movies and family attraction parks. Do you have any hobbies or interests: I love to cook for my family when asked, I read books, and love listening to gospel music. Do you have a pet(s): I have a pitbull named Crane. Unfortunately, I had to leave him in Mississippi, but he lights up whenever I visit. He remembers, Momma. What is your favorite food: Fruit What is your favorite song: Fill Me Up by Tasha Cobbs Leonard What is something you are proud of: My daughters. They have beaten the odds being raised by a single mother, due to the loss of their father in 1997. They never cease to amaze me by accomplishing their dreams. What would you like people to know about you: I'm down to earth, gentle spirited with a big heart. I believe the truth will build great character that will lead you along the path of life and a smile will take away any sadness, so I always choose to smile. When Covid-19 hit us, it was suggest- ed we begin wearing masks when in the presence of others. Several women had begun the task of making masks on their own to give to residents, while others were thinking on a larger scale to provide for all of Kirby Pines. How- ever elastic was no where to be found. But GOD, had another plan and He provided elastic through Dan Moffett and Memphis Cotton Patchers Quilt Guild. An organizational meeting was held on April 7, 2020. There were 19 in attendance. Fabric was provided, sewists and cutters were identified and the project began to take flight. Those cutting fabric were Kurt Wilson, Doris Boyd, Jean Mauney, Jim Gordon, Joy Wright, Mary Ann Thurmond, Sara Callaway, Sydney Wagner. Sewists were Cindy Dabrowski, Jane Long- field, Jean Saunders, Jeanette Martin, Jeannie Valentine, Joan Weaver, Mary Stagg, Peggy Wilson, Roy Thurmond, Sheryl Maxwell and Suzanne Huf- nagel. All fabric was donated by the sewists working on the project. In only 10 days 275 masks had been made and given out; by April 28, 527 had been made and had either been given out or would be delivered to residents who had signed up for one in the Blossom Shop. Thank you to all who participated in this project giving their time, talents and supplies to our family here at Kir- by Pines. - Suzanne Hufnagel, Team Coordinator Face Masks at Kirby
