When Early flames out, Curtis makes the Dreamettes into head- liners as the Dreams, but not before demoting their hefty big-voiced lead singer, Effie White, and putting the soft- er-voiced looker, Deena Jones, in front. Our support group meets the 3rd Wednesday of ev- ery month in the Small Card Room at 10:00 We find support as well as com- forting suggestions for unique prob- lems. Caregiving can be very difficult. Come be a part of our group. Jun 16: The Goldfinch A boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Mu- seum of Art. In a rush of panic, he steals ‘The Goldfinch’, a painting that eventu- ally draws him into a world of crime. Showtimes 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm. Jun 18: Music with Tim Stanek Tim plays jazz, ragtime, country, gos- pel and boogie-woogie piano as well as arrangements of popular tunes from the 30’s and 40s. Tim’s repertoire stems from audience member’s requests. Al- though he does not sing in his perfor- mances, Tim encourages the audience to do so by singing along, humming, or tap dancing on the table with your fin- gers! 6:00 pm in the Lobby. Jun 19: Father's Day Car Show Join us for our second annual Father’s Day Antique Car Show on the grounds from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. We will have live music with Grassfire and plenty of fun to go around. Make sure to stop by! Jun 20: Noel Medford String Quartet Join us Father’s Day afternoon for some great music to end the day. We will have a group of local string musicians from Noel Medford String Quartet perform- ing at 4:00 pm in the PAC. Jun 22: The Book Baggers Whether you read or would like to hear about books being discussed, come and check us out. This month Sue Postle- waithe, one of our newer Kirby Pines residents, will be discussing all things Donna Tart. Donna Tart is an Ameri- can author who has become very pop- ular. Sue will introduce us to several of her books. “The Goldfinch” is Ms. Tart’s latest book. It has even been made into a movie that will be showing in the theatre. Check the Pinecone for show times. As always, you are encouraged to share this group with new residents and any friends you would like to invite. The Book Baggers meet the 4th Tuesday of every month in the PAC at 9:30 am. Jun 23: Fisherman's Friends A fast living, cynical London music executive heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen. He becomes the ultimate “fish out of water” as he struggles to gain the respect or en- thusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. Jun 25: Music with Just Friends Just Friends Band members Larry Tyler, Kelley Walker and Wes Walker will de- light audiences with skilled renditions of pop, jazz standards, rock, country, and gospel. Larry Tyler is skilled on both guitar and keyboard and provides vocals on a wide repertoire of materi- al, including pop, jazz standards, rock, country, and gospel. Wes Walker plays the saxophone, flute, and clarinet and has performed Kelley Walker has per- formed around the Memphis area for over 30 years with various bands, sing- ing rock and roll, old standards and top 40 hits professionally around the region for the past 30 years. 6:00 pm in the Lobby. Jun 29: Glorious 39 1939 is set between present-day London and the idyllic British countryside in the time before the beginning of the Second World War. At a time of uncertainty and high tension, the story revolves around the formidable Keyes family, who are keen to uphold and preserve their very traditional way of life. The eldest sibling Anne is a budding young actress who is in love with Foreign Office official Lawrence, but her seemingly perfect life begins to dramatically unravel when she stumbles across secret recordings of the pro-appeasement movement. Jun 30: Bone Tomahawk After an outlaw unknowingly leads a band of cannibalistic Troglodytes into the peaceful western town of Bright Hope, the monsters kidnap several set- tlers, including the wife of a local ranch- er. Despite his injured leg the rancher joins a small rescue party with the sher- iff, his aging deputy and a strong-willed gunslinger.
