County High School in 1940. She
married John Freeze on January 23,
1942.
They have a daughter, Sylvia and
a son, Winfred, three grandchildren and
3
great grandchildren.
Sue worked as a secretary and
worked side by side with her late
husband, John. Her parents taught her to
always do what was right and she hopes
people recognize her for her smile.
Sue enjoys crafting, including
making ceramics, embroidery, sewing
and crochet. She also likes to play cards,
especially chicken foot and Skip Bo.
Her favorite types of music are gospel
and classic country.
Her favorite trips include Canada,
where an elk walked right out in the
street they were on, and Hawaii. She
even had the opportunity to walk a lava
path at one of Hawaii’s volcanos.

Bob & Doris Woody
Shawn Hawkins
Bob grew up in Mountainview,
Arkansas and Doris is originally from
Myrtle, Mississippi. They got married
in Hot Springs, Arkansas, 24 years ago
and have had five children between the
two of them.
Bob worked thirty plus years in
manufacturing, starting at age 18. He
went on to manage manufacturing
facilities in Little Rock, Fayetteville
and Memphis. Doris was a bookeeper,
then went into real estate. She and Bob
both eventually worked in residential
real estate together until 1996 when
Doris worked for Haverty’s Furniture.
They both loved playing golf
together in Hot Springs and also enjoy
movies, gardeing and yard work,
reading and country music. Bob used to
hunt deer, rabbit and squirrel as well.
They have always believed in being
truthful and helpful to those in need
and applied this philosophy throughout
their lives and careers.
Shawn Hawkins was born in
Cleveland, Mississippi and now joins
us at Kirby Pines from Franklin Park.
Shawn lived in Fairbanks, Alaska as
well, where she worked in a sport fishing
lodge, then went on to become a court
reporter, but realized she did not enjoy
doing all the paper work, so she moved
to Texas to become a pipe fitter. While
working she fell 22 and half feet into an
uncovered hole, resulting in a traumatic
brain injury. Through God’s will and
determination, she has relearned to do
everything over again and as she says,
“
I’ve come a long way, baby”!
She likes books, going to concerts
and movies. She also loves gardening
and working in the yard. She loves
dolphins so much, she even got the
opportunity to swim with them on a
visit to Nassau, Bahamas.
The one place she would still like to
visit is Australia, and with her smile and
determination, she may just get there!
