Dubbed the Golden Age of Gramophone Re- cording, the two decades between 1920 andWorldWar II saw the rise of jazz and the birth of the blues, the demise of rag- time and the emergence of hillbilly mu- sic that would become known through the world as country music. The Side Street Steppers present a pastiche of this transformation of the American musi- cal landscape, performing on vintage and homemade instruments. Mar 23: The Book Baggers Whether you read or would like to hear about books being discussed, come and check us out. This month we en- courage you to head to the Library and read one of the many books on hand by popular suspense novelist David Balda- cci to discuss on March 23. As always, you are encouraged to share this group with new residents and any friends you would like to invite. Mar 23: The Commuter Insurance salesman Michael is on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After be- ing contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the iden- tity of a hidden passenger on the train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding, and he is un- wittingly caught up in a criminal con- spiracy that carries life and death stakes for everyone on the train. Mar 24: Return To Me Heartbroken and struggling emotional- ly after his wife's death in a car accident, Bob Rueland agrees to go on a blind date set up by his friend Charlie. Though the date fizzles, sparks fly between Bob and the waitress, Grace, a recovered heart transplant patient with intimacy prob- lems of her own. When Bob discovers Grace's heart came from his own organ donor wife, an unusual romance blos- soms between the two. Showtimes 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm. Mar 26: Music with Big Barton Big Barton is a Memphis, TN band that plays classic country and western mu- sic from the 1930s-60s, including songs from artists such as Hank Williams, Pat- sy Cline, Ernest Tubb, and Johnny Cash that will bring you back to the golden era of Nashville’s WSM radio. Fronted by Jeremy Shrader (NewMemphis Hep- cats, Mighty Souls Brass Band), who sings lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and Adam Holton (Mister Adams, Cotton and Coal), on vocal harmonies, lead vo- cals and bass, the band features some of the Memphis area’s best musicians. Join them for this foot stomping good time at 6:00 pm in PAC & Live TV 10. Mar 30: Travelers Present Peter and Dale Jones will give a Power Point presentation on their travels in Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Ter- ritories: The Road Less Traveled. Visit Petra in Jordan and traverse Israel from Caesarea to the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. Explore Jerusalem, Herodion, the Qumran Caves, and Ma- sada. Enter the Palestinian Territories and visit Bethlehem, Bethany, and He- bron. Mar 30: Sea Change When Police Chief Jesse Stone’s rela- tionship with his ex-wife worsens, he fears he will relapse into alcoholism. To get his mind off his problems, Jesse be- gins working on the unsolved murder of a bank teller shot during a robbery. Meanwhile, Stone’s investigation of an alleged rape draws him into conflict with the town council, which hopes to preserve Paradise’s reputation as an ide- al seaside resort. Showtimes 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm in the Theater. Mar 31: My Spy Nine-year-old Sophie catches JJ, a hard- ened CIA operative, spying on her fam- ily during a routine surveillance oper- ation. In exchange for not blowing his cover, JJ begrudgingly agrees to show the precocious girl how to become a spy.
