May 17: Music with Hank & Nora Hank and Nora sing and play guitar, performing classic country, vintage stan- dards, and Memphis music. They enjoy performing gospel numbers, 1940s Frank Sinatra and Texas swing, classic country such as Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, Beatles, songs of the 1960s, and Memphis music including Elvis and Johnny Cash. Join them in the Lobby at 6:00 pm. May 18: The Big Walk On Saturday, May 18 the Kirby Pines Team will be participating in the Big Walk. We had a great group last year and a good time was had by all. There are plenty of places to stop and rest if needed. So head downtown with us to help support the National Arthritis Foundation for a morning of fun, walking and celebration. May 21: Hearing Aid Innovation Presentation Lisa Thompson, audiologist at Memphis Hearing Aid, will discuss the THIRD most common health problem in the United States - HEARING LOSS - and the importance of treating it so that one can fully engage in LIFE. The latest innova- tions in hearing aid technology, to include rechargeability, wireless technology, and hearing in background noise will be dis- cussed. FREE hearing screenings will be offered. Whether you dance or come just to listen to the music you will have a great time. Fun starts at 6:30 pm in the PAC. May 22: Arthritis Walk Join us as we walk for a cure for Arthritis. This one will take place either outside or in the halls of Kirby. Registration starts at 10:00 am and the walk will begin at 10:30 am. May 22 : The Perfect Storm Based on a true story, the film tells of the courageous men and women who risk their lives every working day, pitting their fishing boats and rescue vessels against the capricious forces of nature. Playing guitars and man- dolins, they’ve appeared on MTV, BBC, and have been a part of the music scene in London, England and New York City, having lived and performed in both. May 27: My Fair Lady In this beloved musical, pompous pho- netics professor Henry Higgins is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon him- self to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cul- tured member of high society. Showtime 6:30 pm. May 28: The Book Baggers Whether you read or would like to hear about books being discussed, come and check us out. Author Susan Cushman will be with us to discuss her career as an author. She will talk about several of her books and tell how she became involved in writing such a variety of genres. We will not be reading any of her books prior to her visit with us. However she will have copies of her books available for purchase and signing. The Book Baggers meet the 4th Tuesday of every month in the Chapel at 9:30 am.
