On November 21st they will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. These lifelong Memphians have moved to Kirby Pines from their former home in Collierville. After graduating from Treadwell High School in Memphis, Macon went to work for Tri-StateArmature and Electric. He continued to work there for 46 years, retiring as an Electrical Superintendent. Alice graduated from Messick High School and enjoyed a career as a full-time homemaker. They were the proud parents of four children and now are relishing the joys of being grandparents to five grandchildren. Macon is a WWII veteran. He was in the US Air Force, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. While serving in Fort Hood, he became a Christian which had a lasting influence on his life. Traveling has been a priority of the Wherrys over the years, including trips to England, France, Hawaii, New England, and The Canadian Rockies. But their favorite trip of all was the trip to the Holy Land conducted by Dr. Adrian Rodgers of Bellevue Baptist Church. Macon and Alice have many varied hobbies and interests. Macon was an All-Memphis football player in high school and enjoyed playing golf. Alice played golf, tennis, bridge and they have always enjoyed music and ballroom dancing. You will certainly want to meet Macon and Alice. They have many Memphis stories to share. Give them a warm Kirby Pines welcome and let them know how glad we are to have them as our new neighbors. Macon & A l i ce Whe r r y Mi ke & J an J aege r Mike and Jan have moved to Kirby Pines from their former home in Moscow, Tennessee. They have lived in Fayette County for 25 years, but are very happy in their new Garden Home. Mike graduated from the University of Iowa in 1962 with a Bachelor Degree in Business. Jan also attended the U of Iowa. They married after Mike’s graduation. Mike started working for American Hospital Supply/Baxter and then they relocated to Memphis. He continued in medical sales for 30 years and he was one of the top 10 salesmen during his career. Jan worked in real estate with Crye-Leike for 25 years. Mike served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a Tank Driver (every little boy’s dream). He was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood and Fort Knox. They enjoy sports, including U of M basketball and football. Mike and Jan are fly-fishing enthusiasts and have a trip planned to the White River next month. They also enjoy spending part of the cold winter at Gulf Shores, Alabama. Traveling to the Balkin countries, a cruise around the Italian peninsula as well as visiting many of the US states are some of Mike and Jan’s travel adventures. You’re in for a treat when you get to know this warm, friendly couple. When you see them, give them our famous Kirby Pines welcome and make them happy they chose us for their new friends and neighbors.
