Nov 5: Art with Helen Whether you are already an artist or would like to learn, join teacher Helen Gaines on Fridays at 10:00 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. Nov 5: Music with Steve & Shannon Johnson The Steve and Shannon Duo includes husband and wife team Steve and Shan- non Johnston. The duo plays country, blues and good old rock and roll. They have played at casinos, Beale Street clubs and venues all around Memphis for years. Join us in the Lobby at 6:00 pm for this wonderful performance. Nov 6: Men’s Christian Fellowship The Men’s Christian Fellowship meets every Saturday morning at 8:00 am. Come enjoy coffee and fellowship with us each week. Larry McKenzie is Pro- gram Leader. All men are welcome and encouraged to attend. Nov 8 & 22: Alterations Come to the Arts and Crafts room the 2nd and 4th Monday at 9:30 am for all your alteration needs. Nov 8: Travelers: Elmwood Cemetery We will travel by bus to the historic El- mwood Cemetery. Upon arrival we will have a thirty-minute presentation in the Lord’s Chapel explaining the histo- ry and the famous Memphians buried there. Following the lecture, there will be a guided tour for $7, weather per- mitting. Stops include, the state cham- pion cedar tree, Atlas, the Snowden Angel, the obelisk on the Boss Crump lot, and much more. We will also be having a picnic lunch at the cemetery. Sack lunches can be ordered from our very own Kirby Kitchen for the price of $10. Be sure to sign up and order your lunch at the Travelers’ book at the Kirby Pines front desk. Travelers should meet in the Lobby at 9:45 am with departure at 10:00 am. Nov 8: Tower Heist When a group of hard-working guys find out they’ve fallen victim to their wealthy employer’s Ponzi scheme, they conspire to rob his high-rise residence. Showing at 1:30 pm in the theatre. Nov 9: Birthday Night Operatizer We are honored to have Opera Mem- phis with us to celebrate our birthdays! We have quite a few projects underway and will have workdays on Thursdays from 8am to noon. Nov 10: Summerland During World War II, an Englishwom- an opens her heart to an evacuee after initially resolving to be rid of him in this moving journey of womanhood, love and friendship. Nov 12: Patriotic Salute Concert Don’t miss this wonderful concert by the Olive Branch Middle School with Patriotic songs to honor our Veterans. Join us in the PAC at 10:30 am. Nov 12: Music with Violinist Donna Wolf Violinist, fiddler, Donna Wolf, was raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and cur- rently resides in Memphis, Tennessee. She started playing the violin classically at the age of 10 years old. She is a free- lance violinist/fiddler and plays many genres of music, from Celtic to Blue- grass, Folk to Rock, Christian to Classi- cal. Come out to the Lobby at 6:00vpm for some great music. Nov 13: Alzheimer's Walk We will be participating in the Memphis City Alzheimer Walk at the Memphis Botanical Gardens. The bus will leave Kirby at 8:15 am. Be sure to sign up with Transportation to reserve your seat on the bus and with Mary Hand in the Oa- sis to get registered for the team.
