Married for 20 years, they share Banky’s two children and four grandchildren. After graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting, Hugh went into the United States Air Force. Earning the rank of Colonel, he served 30 years. Upon returning from the Air Force, Hugh became a Captain and flew for TWA and American for 33 years. Banky graduated from Ole Miss with a business degree. She worked as a men- tal health counselor with Regional One Mental Health for 15 years. To stay active, Hugh likes golf, walk- ing, and working out in the gym. Along with walking, Banky does needlework and enjoys gardening. As a pilot, it is understandable Hugh has traveled the world and Banky has enjoyed trips to Mexico, Nassau, and many states. If you haven’t already met Hugh and Banky, hopefully, you will soon. Give them a warm Kirby Pines welcome and invite them to get involved in the en- hancement opportunities here at their new home. Hugh & Banky Wilson Darrell & Vollie Sanders Moving from Fort Walton, Florida, Darrell and Vollie have chosen our re- tirement community for the next chap- ter of their lives. Married for 65 years, the Sanders have three children, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grands. Their proudest accom- plishments include their long marriage and their loving family. Their lifelong work has been with The Navigators, a national Christian minis- try. This career lasted for 50 years in- cluding serving as national directors. Darrell served in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was a leader in the Strate- gic Air Command. Darrell and Vollie share many of the same hobbies and interests including reading, studying, developing leaders and walking. He also enjoys sports and she likes water aerobics. They have traveled throughout the eastern and western parts of the United States. Also, the Sanders have traveled to the Philippines, Singapore and Ha- waii. Darrell is described as out-going, while Vollie is gracious. Sounds like a perfect pair for our community. We are so glad they have chosen Kirby Pines for their home and we hope they enjoy all we have to offer. Philip & Pat Slate Philip and Pat Slate come to Kirby Pines from Cordova in Memphis. They have been married 64 years. They are the parents of three children. They also have eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven great- grands. Philip and Pat went to David Lipscomb University. Philip earned a B.A. degree and a M.A. degree and had a career as a preacher and educator. He worked at Harding University and Abilene Chris- tian University. Pat earned her MRS. Degree and became a preacher’s wife and homemaker. For enjoyment, Pat enjoys reading. Philip stays busy doing organic garden- ing, fishing, and writing. The Slates have traveled the world teaching, consulting, and evaluating mission programs. Their destinations were too many to list but they did settle in England for 10 years doing church work. Philip was named “Alumnus of the Year” by two universities and he is in the “Who’s Who” publication. This dedicated couple has accomplished much in their church lives and they will have many experiences to share with our Kirby community. We are elated they chose Kirby Pines for their retire- ment. Be sure to extend to them a warm welcome.
