She and her late husband, Ruben, were married 64 years, have three children, 15 grandchildren and eight great grands. Bettie earned her Bachelor Degree in Education from Southeast Missouri State in 1950. She went on to become a teacher and worked in the office. Bettie stays active exercising and until her recent move, she worked in her yard to keep fit. Her favorite holidays are Christmas and Thanksgiving and enjoys having her whole wonderful family together. She is very proud of them and has a very loving and happy family life. Bettie has traveled all over the United States, missing only two, Hawaii and Vermont. She is a fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, so I'm sure she will find plenty of people to cheer them on with. We are so very glad Bettie has chosen Kirby Pines Retirement Community to make her home. She will quickly find that you make fast friends at Kirby Pines and they will welcome her with open arms. Bettie Smith Jennie Fulmer Jennie Fulmer was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee and comes to Kirby Pines from her home in Memphis. She and her late husband, Bill, were married 68 years before his passing in 2014. Jennie spent 16 and a half years work- ing for the Memphis City Schools as a financial secretary. Bill served as a pilot 22 and half years in the Army and Air Force. Jennie enjoys reading, keeping in touch with friends and volunteering. She also loves to travel and has done so exten- sively. She has been to 16 countries and all 50 states - most more than once. To stay active, Jennie walks and volun- teers with Meals on Wheels, the Soup Kitchen, Room in the Inn, visiting friends in Assisted Living and various church activities. Her favorite book is Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pincher and also enjoys anything by James Michener - I think we may have found a new member of our Book Baggers group! Her favorite holiday is Easter and she loves Italian and Soul food. Her friends would describe her as friendly, caring and loyal. Sounds like Jennie will be a perfect fit for our com- munity. She will have plenty of oppor- tunity to continue doing the things she loves while she's here. Welcome!
