Departure time is 9:30 am. Sept 6: Art with Helen Whether you are already an artist or would like to learn, join teacher Helen Gaines on Fridays at 10:00 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. Sept 6: Music with Al Mahan Come to the Lobby at 6:00 pm for a trip down memory lane with guitarist and vocalist Al Mahan and enjoy a blend of music from decades past. With his unique presentation filled with humor, imperson- ations, parodies and sing-alongs, Al’s con- certs prove to be a most enjoyable time filled with laughter, singing, nostalgia and inspiration. Sept 7: Men’s Christian Fellowship The Men’s Christian Fellowship meets ev- ery Saturday morning in the Ante Room at 7:30 am. There is a rotating list of resi- dent speakers who give a devotion at each meeting. Come enjoy coffee and fellow- ship with us each week. Sept 9: Tai Chi Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise. Every Monday in the PAC at 1:45 pm. Sept 9: Magnum: Legend of the Lost Art Higgins asks Magnum to find a long-lost artifact, “The Lost Art of the Ancients” before it can fall into the wrong hands. Showtime 1:30 pm. Sept 10: Birthday Night with Just Friends Band Just Friends Band members Larry Tyler, Kelley Walker and Wes Walker will de- light audiences with skilled renditions of pop, jazz standards, rock, country, and gospel. Larry Tyler is skilled on both gui- tar and keyboard and provides vocals on a wide repertoire of material, including pop, jazz standards, rock, country, and gospel. Wes Walker plays the saxophone, flute, and clarinet and has performed pro- fessionally around the region for the past 30 years. Join them in the PAC at 6:30 pm. Sept 11: Garden Club Meeting Hold on to your plants. They will still produce a few more tomatoes.The large amount of rain has hurt the crop. Plans for next year-consider all bush plants so all can reach the vines. We will pick up patio pots in October - a cool day. Bring a new resident with you to our next meet- ing who could be a garden gro’er. Come on down to the Greenhouse every 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30 am rain or shine and dig in! Sept 13: Flag Raising Ceremony Join us in the Lobby at 9:30 am for our 35th Anniversary Flag Raising featuring the University of Memphis ROTC Color Guard Bag Pipe George Malone Vocal- ist from Opera Memphis. Meet us in the Lobby at 9:25 am to follow the presenta- tion out to the Porte Cachere. Sept 13: MusicwithNostalgia Enjoy an evening with “Nostalgia”. Wel- come back our favorite duo as they en- tertain us with a musical revue evoking memories through songs from the 1920’s to the present. Don’t miss this show at 6:00 pm in the PAC. Sept 14 & 28: Through the Bible Through the Bible is a study of the Bible led by Gail Kommer and Barbara Hyland, meeting the 2nd and 4th Saturday of ev- ery month at 10:00 am in the Small Card Room. Bring a Bible and notebook. Join this group of ladies who enjoy learning about God’s Word. All are welcome. Sept 14: Lighting of the Lake Join us for the 36th Anniversary Light- ing of the Lake ceremony. Our theme this year is Path and the color is Turmeric. The ceremony will start promptly at 5:00 pm by the Lake Latimer. We will have a special guest speaker. Followed by the lighting of the torches and taps played by Nathan Wolinski. We will then adjourn to the Lobby and Dining Room for a recep- tion featuring music from our featured musical pianist Tim Stanek.
