Janet Singer
Janet (Jan) Singer is a new Kirby Pines resident, moving in
duringApril 2013. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1926 to Margaret
Jane Guy and Stodard Martin, she married Ward Singer. They
had one daughter and three sons, and six grandchildren.
Jan attended The Cleveland Art Institute and Western Reserve
University. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in
painting at Memphis College of Art in 1976. She also attended
Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts for several courses related
to glass art, and Penland School of Arts and Crafts in North
Carolina for courses in Lampworking Glass.
Her creativity includes three-dimensional fused glass,
such as her famous three-legged vases, as well as fused
glass in a variety of two-dimensional ways. Her two-
dimensional work includes fused glass painting, jewelry,
Holiday ornaments, and custom-made glass décor.
Jan’s talent and artistic creations have brought her
international and national recognition. Her pieces are
in the Memphis Brooks Museum; Memphis College of
Art; Tennessee State Museum in Nashville; Arrowmont
School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN; Buckeye
Cellulose, Memphis; Glazer Steel, Knoxville, TN; Farris,
Warfield & Kanaday Law Firm, Nashville; and Holiday
Inns, Executive Suites, Austin, Texas.

Since 2012, Lauren Potter has been the Activities Coordinator for Manor
residents. As a result of her untiring efforts and great ideas, Manor residents
have many new programs and activities to make their day brighter and fulfilling.
Lauren has helped create an atmosphere of positive interaction by staff and
residents, and she works with residents’ families as well, to keep them involved in
caring for their loved ones.
Lauren is always available to help other activities team members, and their
collective efforts ensure events much appreciated by the residents. She is always
smiling and ready to do what it may take to sweeten the lives of the Manor
residents.
Lauren is a welcomed addition to the Manor staff. Thank you, Lauren!
