Mary Mecklenborg
Fran joined our Kirby Pines
family just recently and, so far, she is
enjoying her new home.
If you want to do it bad
enough, you can do it,” her mother
always told her and Fran never forgot
that growing up in Memphis, TN. She
is a graduate of Humes High School
and The University of Memphis.
After living in Olive Branch, MS
for thirty years, she and her husband
Burton, both retired from Federal
Civil Service. The accomplishments
she is most proud of are her son
Michael and her six grandsons!
Fran enjoys playing Bridge,
she loves fifties music and you cannot
keep her away from banana pudding
and milk!
She thinks Kirby Pines is great
and is looking forward to making
many new friends. Please welcome
Fran with your warmest Kirby Pines
smile and hug!
Mary, born in Fort Thomas,
KY, is a retired medical and surgical
nurse who was always taught to help
others in need. She believes that
praying with family and friends,
attendingMass andHolyCommunion
as many days as possible and living
by the Ten Commandments are the
most valuable lessons any parent
can teach their children. She feels
privileged to have had parents who
instilled those lessons in her.
Mary likes most types of
music, but especially enjoys concert
music with harps and violins. She
loves going to art museums, taking
walks with others and going out to
restaurants with friends.
She also has a green thumb
that keeps her going on a quest to
raise the perfect rose bush and other
types of plants. Be sure to welcome
Mary to our Kirby Pines family when
you see her!
Sam and Ellie, two of our
newest Garden Home residents,
come to Kirby Pines all they way
from Marlton, NJ!
Ellie Bates is a retired school
administrator who is very involved in
church (Church of Christ) activities,
loves to go antiquing (especially
if there is a Starbucks near by) and
enjoys cooking, reading, gardening,
art and old show tunes. She believes
in putting God first and being an
honest and hard worker, but most
of all in being kind and gracious to
others.
Sam Bates is a retired Naval
electronics technician and engineer
who also is very involved in church
(
Church of Christ) activities. He likes
traveling, listening to music, singing,
going to concerts and being a “handy
man” extraordinaire!
Sam and Ellie are a delight
to talk to and be around. Their easy-
going nature and great smiles are a
welcome addition to our Kirby Pines
family and we are so happy they have
joined us!
