Charlene earned a Masters in

Education from the Polytech-

you opted to join our com-

made over time and, no doubt,

interest will be expressed to

hear about your life in foreign

countries. Welcome to a safe

Bob and Mary Jo Williams,

have been married for 64

years, they have 3 children and

4 grandchildren.

Bob was a Staff Sergeant in

the Air Force during WWII,

serving as an Official War

Photographer in North Africa

and Italy. When his military

service ended, he was hired by

the Memphis Commercial Ap-

peal newspaper; with first as-

signments being “society” pic-

tures, but he took his camera

everywhere everyday, coming

upon scenes that captured the

imagination of the Commer-

cial Appeal readers and his

photos grew to be a favorite

feature of the paper’s reader-

ship. Mary Jo attended North-

West Junior College in Sena-

tobia, MS and Memphis State.

She was a homemaker for the

growing family; she also was a

skilled and avid tennis player.

Jo was a member of the Brooks

Museum League and a docent

at The Mallory Neely House.

Bob retired as Photo Editor af-

ter 33 years at the Commercial

Appeal, and they decided to

move to Kirby Pines.

We are pleased that Bob and

Mary Jo have joined our com-

munity. Get to know them –

conversations will easily flow

because “remembering when”

is a favorite pastime for many

of us.
