Sign up in the Resident Programs Office. The transportation fee is $5. Lobby time is at 10:30 am. Don’t forget your lunch money! Apr 17: Travelers: Million Shades of Spring This spring join the Travelers to the Mem- phis Botanic Garden as it bursts into color with BLOOM: A Million Shades of Spring, is a new exhibition celebrating the beauty, joy, and renewal of the season. Across the 96-acre Garden, more than one million blooms unfold in waves of color: dreamy cherry blossoms, sweeping tulip displays, & the iconic flowers of Southern spring. Whether you’re strolling beneath cherry blossoms, wandering through fields of tu- lips, or soaking in the colors of late spring, no two visits will ever be the same. After we explore the gardens & enjoy our Tram tour will have lunch at Fratellis Café. Lobby time 10:00 am. Sign up in Resident Programs. Tickets are $10. Transportation fee $5. Apr 17: Music: Hamateurs A Ham-a-tuers Hootnanny! Join the ama- teur actors of Kirby Pines for a night of fun & laughter. Monologues, dialogues, skits, one liners & “fancy dancing” – All these will delight the crowd. Showtime is at 6:30 pm. Apr 19: Birthday Day Attention birthday folks! We want to cele- brate YOU with a very special day in the dining room! Whether you are celebrating your special day, joining friends in cele- bration, or enjoying Birthday Day at your usual table, we invite you to dress up and partake in what this extra special day has in store. For those celebrating a birthday, be sure to RSVP with Kayla Holland by re- turning your personalized invitation you received. Apr 20: Travelers: Rock n’ Soul Museum Join the Travelers to the Rock n’ Soul Mu- seum. This museum offers a comprehen- sive experience from the rural field hollers & sharecroppers of the 1930s, to Memphis’ musical heyday in the 70s, & its global in- fluence. Tickets are $16 & transportation fee is $5. After we tour the museum, we will enjoy lunch at Rock n’ Dough Pizza. Apr 20: Tech Time Bring your phones, tablets, laptop whatev- er issue you have they will be glad to help. Cathy will be coming every 3rd Monday at 10:30 am in the Sunroom. Apr 21: Dance: Spring Fling Join us in the PAC for the Spring Fling Dance. Put on your dancing shoes & join us for a fun filled evening with The Rob Haynes Band! Desserts & coffee will be served throughout the evening. Doors Open at 5:30 pm and the music starts at 6:00 pm. Apr 23: Travelers: Blue Note Distillery Join the travelers to Blue Note Distillery to tour & taste. If you are looking for an un- filtered, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the daily operations of the oldest licensed distillery in Memphis, join the Blue Note Bourbon team for a guided tour offering visitors a fascinating look at the history of bourbon and the art of crafting it. Wheth- er you are already a bourbon enthusiast or just a beginner, we welcome you to learn firsthand how Blue Note Bourbon became the award-winning brand it is today. Apr 24: Peter Jones Presents: Jordan and Israel Peter Jones will give a PowerPoint presen- tation on Jordan & Israel at 1:00 pm on Fri- day, April 24 in the PAC. Travel from Aman & Jerash in Jordan to Petra, the “Rose City”, View the Treasury, the Monastery, & other archeological structures. Enter Israel & ex- plore the Golan Heights, the Sea of Galilee, & Jerusalem. Join the group at 1:00 pm in the PAC or watch on in house TV for this informative presentation. Apr 24: Music: Jim Cornfoot & Patrick Jones Welcome to the Kirby Pine stage, local mu- sicians Jim Cornfoot & Patrick Jones. Their performance features art songs and opera arias of Schubert, Brahms, Benjamin Brit- ten, along with a collection of British folk songs. In the PAC at 6:00 pm. Don’t be late! Apr 24: Book Baggers Attention all residents of Kirby Pines! On April 28 the chapel will be turned into a barnyard! Enter at your own risk. A pig named Wilbur will be talking to a spider named Charlotte. Come to the meeting of the two at 9:30 am only if you want to fall in love (again) with these two friends! Carolyn Hladky will be trying to control the animals as she shares this powerful story we all feel in love with when we were young, and we shared with our children when they were young. Apr 28: ArthritisFoundationWalk Join us for the Kirby Pines annual walk for the Arthritis Foundation. We will meet in the Lobby at 10:30 am& will begin the walk around the Kirby Pines grounds at 10:40 am. Drink plenty of water & wear your ten- nis shoes. As a special treat Kim Roberts will be joining us on our walk in support of the Arthritis Foundation. Apr 28: Travelers: Dixon Spring Into Art Hop on the Kirby bus with Travelers to ex- plore the Dixon Art Gallery & Gardens for “Spring to Art”. This is a spring celebration of Blues, Art, &Memphis. There will be live music & so much more to enjoy. Sign up in Resident Programs. Lobby time is 1:15 pm. Transportation fee is $5. Apr 28: Girls’ Night Out Come join the “girls” for an evening of pop- corn & a great movie, “Miss Potter”. It is sure to be a fun night for everyone. Show- time is at 6:15 pm. Don’t be late!
