Aug 5: Bridge Group The Bridge Group meets every Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the LCR and is open to all residents. Bring a partner and come join us. There is a sign-up binder in the hallway near the Bistro. Aug 6: Bible Study with Dave Phillips Join Germantown Church of Christ’s Dave Phillips as he leads a group Bible Study ev- ery Thursday at 10:00 am in the chapel. All denominations invited. Aug 6: Series: The Crown The Crown chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II, exploring her political rival- ries, personal relationships, and the nation- al events that defined Britain across the lat- ter half of the 20th century. Showtimes are every Thursday at 1:30 pm. Aug 6: Wellness Talk with Angela August is National Wellness Month! This a perfect time to focus on healthy habits that support independence, vitality, and overall well-being. Wellness goes beyond physical health and includes caring for our emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, en- vironmental, occupational, and financial well-being. This month, take a moment to evaluate your wellness habits and set a few personal goals for healthy aging. To learn more, join us in the Sunroom at 2:00 pm. Aug 7: Cornhole Club Come out and join us for our newest trend- ing game, cornhole. Whether you’re new to playing, or an expert, everyone is welcome. Join us in the LCR at 10:00 am every Friday for a fun time. Aug 7: Cribbage Come and play cribbage with us. This brand-new resident led game group meets every Friday at 2:30 pm in the SCR. Hope to see you there! Aug 7: Strength Training As we age, it is so important that we main- tain our strength in order to independently care for ourselves and loved ones. Join us every Friday at 10:15 am in the PAC for our strengthening exercise class. Aug 7: Yoga Stretch Gentle yoga can be very effective for se- niors in preventing or slowing down the loss of bone density, and relieving bone and joint pain. Come on out and join Ms. Kim every Friday at 10:45 am in the PAC. Aug 7: Happy Hour Attention Kirby Residents! Come to the Bistro from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm every Fri- day to enjoy a Happy Hour Specials. This is a wonderful way to start your weekend off right! Aug 7: Music: Todd Derstine Welcome back to Kirby Pines stage Todd Derstine. Be in the PAC at 6:00 pm for a memorable performance. Aug 8 & 22: Trivia Group All residents are welcome to attend this noncompetitive activity, and are encour- aged to participate, or just listen and enjoy. The THEME for August is Television (sit- coms, dramas, westerns). However, Trivia questions can be presented on any topic. Join us at 6:15 pm in the ante room. Aug 9: Travelers: Botanic Gardens Join the Travelers to the Memphis Botanic Gardens for Deanna Mullins Art Exhib- it. “Deanna Mullins is a native Memphian working primarily in acrylic, water-color and mixed media. She is known for her bright colors, bold use of shapes and pat- terns & often whimsical paintings. It is her joy to use her creative gifts as her way of giving back & engaging with the communi- ty. She has been painting professionally for the last 15 years but considers herself a life- long learner continuously seeking opportu- nities to grow in her work. Lobby Time is 2:30 pm. Admission is $10. Transportation fee is $5. Aug 9: Hymn Sing with Leon Please Join us in the Chapel for a resident led Hymn singing with Mr. Leon Sander- son. We will begin at 4:00 pm. Aug 10: Poetry & Writing Club The Poetry & Creative Writing Club meets on the 2nd Monday of August at 9:30 am in the A&C Studio. This month’s prompt “Write about someone who inspires you.” Be sure to check our stories in the Pine- cone. They are sure to entertain & get your creativity flowing. Aug 11: Travelers: Halls, TN Hop on the Kirby bus with the Travelers to Halls, TN. This trip is one that every- one will enjoy. There will be 2 different experiences offered on this trip. The 1st is The WWII heritage museum. Tickets are $5. For the individuals who prefer an af- ternoon of shopping, we will also have a group going to Charlene’s Colony of shops. Both groups will enjoy lunch after at Just Devine Tearoom. Lobby time is 9:30 am. Transportation fee is $5. Don’t forget your lunch money. Aug 12: Garden Gro’ers August is often celebrated as a month of abundant growth and vibrant beauty in gardens. If you enjoy gardening as much as we do, we would love for you to become a member of our gardening community. Join us in the Greenhouse at 10:30 am. Aug 12: Recipe Wednesday Attention Kirby Pines Resident’s! Recipe Wednesday is back! This is a special day where Chef Harold makes your treasured family recipes! Recipes can be submitted to Carolyn Hladky or any member of the Food Committee. Can’t wait to see “What YOU Bring to the Table!” Aug 12: Travelers: The Music Man Join the Travelers to Theatre Memphis to see “The Music Man”. Lobby time is 6:00 pm. This classic 1957 Broadway musical by Meredith Willson features well-known Broadway classics like “Trouble,” “Seven- ty-Six Trombones,” “Til There Was You,” “Pickalittle,” and “Gary, Indiana.” Sign up in Resident Programs.
