All skill levels are welcome to come on Thurs- days at 3:00 pm. Come out and just have some fun with us! Sep 4: Cornhole Club Come out and join us for our newest trend- ing game, cornhole. Whether you’re new to playing, or an expert, everyone is welcome. Join us in the LCR at 10:00 am every Friday for a fun time. Sep 4: Strength Training As we age, it is so important that we main- tain our strength in order to independently care for ourselves and loved ones. Join us every Friday at 10:15 am in the PAC for our strengthening exercise class. Sep 4: Yoga Stretch Gentle yoga can be very effective for se- niors in preventing or slowing down the loss of bone density, and relieving bone and joint pain. Come on out and join Ms. Kim every Friday at 10:45 am in the PAC. Sep 4: Peter Jones: Iceland and Greenland Peter Jones will give a PowerPoint pre- sentation on Iceland & Greenland at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 4th in the PAC. Explore the capital city Reykjavik, visit the Blue Lagoon, numerous waterfalls, & gey- sers. Fly to Greenland and visit Kulusuk & Ammassalik Islands. Join the group at 1:00 pm in the PAC or watch on in house TV for this informative presentation. Sep 4: Cribbage Come and play cribbage with us. This brand-new resident led game group meets every Friday at 2:30 pm in the SCR. Hope to see you there! Sep 4: Happy Hour Attention Kirby Residents! Come to the Bistro from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm every Fri- day to enjoy a Happy Hour Specials. This is a wonderful way to start your weekend off right! Sep 4: Music: Al Mahan Just a man and his guitar, Pastor Al Mahan loves to entertain his audiences with clas- sics, stories, and impersonations. He will have you laughing & your toes a tapping during his performance. Music begins in the PAC at 6:00 pm. Sep 5: Men’s Christian Fellowship The Men’s Christian Fellowship meets ev- ery Saturday morning at 8:00 am. Come enjoy coffee and fellowship with us each week. There is a rotating list of resident speakers who give a devotion at each meet- ing. All men are welcome and encouraged to attend. Sep 5: Euchre Come learn to play Euchre, Kirby Pines Newest Game! Sep 9: Garden Gro’ers September gardens evoke reflection, har- vest, and the gentle transition from sum- mer warmth to autumn’s golden embrace. If you enjoy gardening as much as we do, we would love for you to become a member of our gardening community. Join us in the Greenhouse at 10:30 am. Sep 9: Travelers: Dixon Gallery Join the Travelers to the Dixon Art Gallery for their Munch & Learn Series. The top- ic of this event is, “Painting in the Wild: Outdoor Painting in Remote Landscapes” by Matthew Lee. Lee was born in Paris, France, to American parents from Missis- sippi. He spent his childhood primarily in France and Germany before returning to Mississippi to earn a degree in architecture from Mississippi State University. We will enjoy food from Park & Cherry by Pre-Or- der. Make sure you fill out your order in the resident programs office when you sign up. The learning part is free. Transportation fee is $5. Lobby time is 11:00 am. Sep 10 & 24: Alterations Attention Kirby Pines! We have a new seamstress to meet all your alteration needs. Her name is Latoya & you can find her in the Ante Room from 9:45 am – 10:45 am on the 2nd & 4thThursday each month. Sep 10: Resident Association Meeting The Resident Association will meet on Thursday, September 10th at 2:00 pm in the PAC. We are happy to have a wonder- ful guest speaker from CompassUs Hospice who will be giving an informative presenta- tion on, “What is Hospice, & What is Not Hospice”. Sep 10: Flag Blessing Ceremony Please join us in the PAC at 6:30 pm for a very special Vespers. As part of the Lighting of the Lake festivities, we will begin Vespers with Keith Weathers Blessing the flag. Sep 11: Flag Raising Ceremony Join us under the Porte Cochere at 9:30 am for our 43rd Anniversary flag raising cere- mony featuring the University of Memphis ROTC Color Guard and The City of Mem- phis Pipe Band. Sep 11: Music: Double D Band The Double D Band plays a wide range of songs and genres, but especially music from the 50’s. Playing guitars and mando- lins, they’ve appeared on MTV, BBC, and have been part of the music scene in Lon- don, England and New York City, having lived and performed in both. Music begins in the PAC at 6:00 pm.
