Students Awards Recital
Join these gifted students from The
University of Memphis Sheidt School
of Music as they perform for us in the
Lobby. Beginner students will begin
at 1:30 p.m. with advanced students
following at 3:00 p.m.
April 9 • Birthday Night Concert
with RSVP
Men’s a’ cappella vocal group RSVP
will be here to celebrate all the April
Birthdays with us! Performing Blues,
Gospel, Rock, Standards, Swing
and more! Join us for this fantastic
performance at 6:30 p.m. in The
Performing Arts Center.
April 10 • Garden Gro’ers
Club Meeting
You don’t need a green thumb to
be a member of this busy group.
There are many ways to pitch in and
help beautify our grounds. We need
help transplanting our tomato seeds
from mid-February and March into
the garden. Come on down to the
Greenhouse on Wednesday April 10th
at 10:30 a.m. to lend a hand!
April 10 • Downton Abbey Series,
Episode 6
Sybil’s determination to pursue her
political leanings lands her in great
danger when a fight breaks out at an
election results meeting. Matthew’s
tenderness in caring for the would-be
suffragette is noticed by her sisters, but
it is Mary who is stunned to receive
a marriage proposal. Bates is cleared
of suspicion over the stolen wine, but
offers his resignation rather than name
the culprit. Episode 6 will be shown
at both 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the
Movie Theater.
April 11 • Redbirds Game
Take me out to the ball game, Take
me out with the crowd, Buy me some
peanuts and crackerjacks, I don’t care
if I never get back! We have box seats
to the Redbirds game! Come out and
enjoy the wonderful weather with
some baseball at AutoZone Park. Call
Activities to reserve your seat. Seats
are limited. The total cost for one
ticket, including transportation, is $15.
Bus leaves at 10:00 a.m. Sign up in
Transportation.
April 12 • Music in the Lobby
with the Reed Riders
Known as The Memphis Reed Riders,
Gene Finney and Jim Watkins have
been making music together for over
40
years. A mutual love of the unique
sound of the lowly harmonica brought
them together and launched a life-long
friendship.  
Jim plays the chromatic lead harmonica
accompanied by Gene on his 24-inch-
long chord harmonica. Their goal has
been to demonstrate the beauty and
versatility of the harmonica and to gain
the respect they believe it deserves as
a legitimate musical instrument. Come
hear them play in the Lobby at 6:00
p.m.
April 13 • Suzuki Piano Students
Enjoy this talented group of Suzuki
Piano Students from The University
of Memphis Sheidt School of Music
as they perform their spring program.
These students are of differing levels
in their musical education and are very
excited to show off their hard work.
Saturday April 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the
Lobby.
April 14 • Bartlett Flute Choir
The Bartlett Flute Choir is thrilled to be
making its fourth appearance at Kirby
Pines! The flute ensemble will perform
music from Ireland, Jamaica, England
and the Americas. A special feature
will showcase the alto and bass flutes
on “Shenandoah” and the audience
will be asked to share their talents in a
patriotic sing-a-long. The flute choir is
a musical ensemble composed entirely
of flutes--utilizing piccolo, C-flute,
alto and bass flutes in the performance.
The performance starts at 1:30 p.m. in
the Lobby.
April 15 • Smart Moves
This month’s topic is “Living and
Coping with Hand Pain.” Smart Moves
begins at 9:45 a.m. in The Performing
Arts Center immediately following
Exercise.
April 16 • “April in Paris” Dance
with Payne &Anderson
April in Paris, Kirby in bloom, come
up to the PAC, we’ll have plenty of
room! We will continue our Spring
celebration with the smooth sounds of
Payne & Anderson at 7:00 p.m. in The
Performing Arts Center.
April 17 • Downton Abbey Series,
Episode 7
Cora makes a discovery that throws the
inheritance issue into chaos, and Mary
is prompted to keep Matthew waiting
for an answer to his proposal. Robert
arranges for Mrs. Patmore to see an
eye specialist, and O’Brien digs up
more compromising information about
Bates, but the Earl’s response comes as
a surprise. Thomas leaves the Abbey
and Mary exacts vengeance on Edith
for her treachery, while the household
is rocked by a shocking announcement.
Episode 7 will be shown at both 2:00
p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Movie
Theater.
April 18 • Spring Rummage Sale
It’s that time of year to clean out your
closets and de-clutter your life, and
make some extra cash at the same
time!  Kirby Pines’ Spring Rummage
Sale will be held Thursday, April 18th,
from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the
Performing Arts Center. Call Activities
at 866-4414 to reserve a table.
April 19 • Music in the Lobby
with Breeze Cayolle
Saxophonist/singer-songwriter Brian
Breeze” Cayolle is soulful, strong and
deeply rooted in the rhythm & blues,
jazz and rock and roll traditions of his
native New Orleans. His sound and
style have taken him around the world,
igniting crowds to standing ovations
from the Montreux Jazz Festival to the
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Join us in the Lobby for some jazzy
music at 6:00 p.m. with Breeze.
