Joycie Holbrook comes
to us from Whitehaven, TN,
is a member of Independent
Presbyterian Church and the
Memphis Storytellers League.
She worked in the training
department at AT&T, where
she also took care of Fed Ex’s
account and was married to her
late husband, Harold, for 46
fabulous years.
A funny story she shared,
is Joycie has a street light pole
named after her, simply because
she called to report the light
being out. They thanked her for
calling, then ended up receiving
a certificate, saying the pole was
being named for her. How many
people can say that!
She enjoys reading, church
activities, crossword puzzles,
story telling and big band music.
Joycie was also a tap dancer and
even has the top hat, cane, gloves,
shoes and pictures to prove it!
Patti Tracey grew up in
the Mississippi Delta, where she
learned to love all foods that were
truly southern cooked by her
Mother - fried chicken, cornbread,
field peas and butterscotch
pie with lots of meringue. She
eventually moved to Norfolk, VA
where she managed a clothing
shop and then to Memphis where
she taught school in integrated
classrooms during the 60s and
70
s.
She also sold furniture
after retirement and worked in
the Pink Palace Gift Shop, but
the accomplishment she is most
proud of is raising her beautiful
daughter, who now lives in
California with her family.
Patti really enjoys playing
bridge, going to see live theater,
needlework,
good
music
(
especially jazz), and has a warm
spot in her heart for the beach,
sand, ocean and shells.
Hazel Willoughby was
born in Sunflower County, MS.
She married on her 17th birthday
and she and her late husband,
Dan, shared 54 wonderful years
together and raised 3 beautiful
children, with whom she is still
very close.
Hazel became a leader
in a girl’s auxiliary, which she
had been a member of growing
up, and taught a 13 year old
Sunday School class for over 50
years. She also spent time as a
seamstress and worked for Ann
Marie Inc., where she painted
characters on ribbon to make hair
bows for girls.
She has many hobbies,
including crocheting, ceramics,
macrame, counted cross stitch,
sewing, reading and one of her
favorite pastimes is scrapbooking
and genealogy, which she does
with her daughters, and recently
her grandaughter.
