Dr. Don and Marilyn
Duke have been married
57 years, have 3 children
and 5 grandchildren. He is
originally from Savannah,
Tennessee and she was born
in Sedalia, Missouri, but
they move to Kirby from the
Greentrees Neighborhood of
Memphis.
Dr. Don Duke was very
excited to receive his MD
degree and “surgery ticket” to
allow him to practice general
surgery for a living.
They have done some
traveling, but the most
interesting trip they took
was driving to Alaska on
the famous Alcan Highway,
pulling a Volkswagen Beetle
behind their Winnebago.
They ended up seeing almost
the entire state.
Don
enjoys
chess,
hunting, flying and farming.
Marilyn enjoys playing the
piano, even completing her
required recital in college.
They are both very personable
and outgoing, so if you have
yet to meet them, make sure
you give them a warm Kirby
hello.

the opportunity to live in
England for seven and a
half years, where she was
able to travel all over the
United Kingdom, Europe and
Russia, meeting interesting
people along the way.
Ann enjoys listening
to music of all kinds, word

walking, baking, people

with close friends. Laughter
is a key to life.
She still has the bible
her Mom carried when she
married her Dad and that she
carried when she married
her late husband, Harold.
She values faith in God and
friends you can count on no
matter what.

Cordelia was born in
Bartlett, Tennessee and
moved to Water Valley,
Mississippi when she was 6
to live with her grandparents.
She has 4 children, 8
grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.
After high school she went to
work in the Navy Shipyard,
folding
blueprints
in
Pascagoula. It was there she
was given the address of a
navy man, who she wrote to.
They married when he came
home on leave in 1945. His
work moved them to New
Orleans, Oklahoma, Virginia,
California and even Guam
for 2 years.
After George passed, she
worked back in Memphis
for 20 years at the United
Methodist
Neighborhood
Center. When they didn’t
have the budget to pay her
anymore, she volunteered
there until they closed.
She used to bowl in a
church league, and even
won a patch for an All Spare
Game! Please make sure to
help make Cordelia feel at
home, here at Kirby Pines.
