Ed & Ethel Smith
Ed and Ethel Smith come to Kirby Pines
from their previous home in Southaven,
MS.
Prior to retirement, Ed worked more
than 26 years for Methodist Hospital
as an Operations and Maintenance
Specialist, maintaining the generators.
Ethel was employed for 26 years by
Sears in sales. They’ve been married for
40 years. Ed served in the U.S. Navy,
retiring as a Third Class Petty Officer.
Over the last 55 years, the Smiths were
members of several Baptist Churches.
At each church, Ethel was faithful in
teaching Sunday School to young
children.
Gardening is a special interest of
Ethel; while auto repair is Ed’s favorite
pastime. Songs from the 50’s, rock and
roll, southern gospel, big bands, and
blues are their favorite music forms.
They have traveled to Spain, Italy,
France, Greece, and Israel. Ed would
like to visit Germany to drive on the
Nuremburg Ring; Ethel would like
to visit Hawaii, especially the Pearl
Harbor Memorial.
We are pleased to welcome Ed and Ethel
to our retirement community. They will
have many opportunities to contribute
to the enhancement of their new home
and to ours as well.

As new residents, we have all
experienced the need for time
to assimilate into the residential
community rhythm. Ronald and Elsa
will need that introductory time to
become familiar with our exceptional
variety of activites. We know they
will “find their metier” – areas of need
compatible with their likes and talents.
Ronald and Elsa, welcome.
