The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
The Holiday season at Kirby Pines
is hard to ignore. From the sixteen
foot Christmas tree in the lobby, to the
decoration residents have placed on their
doors, a walk around the community
provides everyone with a smile and
feeling of joyfulness.
Throughout this holiday season, our
Activity Department has planned a
variety of events for the enjoyment of
residents and their guests. You will want
to read the Pinecone and mark on your
calendar, all of the events you may want
to attend. One of the holiday traditions
at Kirby Pines is a walk through the
community to see the many beautiful
door decorations residents display.
You are certain to be impressed by the
creative talent residents have put into
decorating their doors for the holidays.
Of course, no holiday would be
complete without some mouth-watering
treats. Chef Blake and his staff will be
busy throughout the holiday season,
preparing a variety of confections to
add to the numerous holiday functions
planned. For those of you dining with us
on Christmas Day, you can look forward
to a traditional Southern Christmas
Dinner. Kirby Pines is so well known
for its’ delicious Christmas dinner, that
we easily have upwards of one hundred

guests dine with us each year. If you
are planning on inviting guests for this
wonderful feast, be sure to make your
reservations with Perry in the dining
room. Prior to the Christmas meal you
can experience a wonderful special
evening meal on Christmas Eve, and
of course, pick up some great desserts
prepared just for the Christmas season.
The holidays just would not have that
holiday feeling, without the friends and
families that surround us at this time of
the year. Kirby Pines certainly abounds
with friends, old and new, that makes
everyone feel the spirit of Christmas
year round. The decorations, events and
food are only a reminder that we need to
take time to show appreciation for these
many wonderful friendships. Keeping
this in mind, I wish all of you a very
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and
Kwanzaa.
When deciding on what we should
do for the December cover, we never
had to question our theme. After all,
Christmas means so much to each and
every one of us.
It’s a special time of year, whether
it’s remembering the good times of
Christmas past, warming by the fire in
your holiday sweater in the Christmas
present, or looking forward to parties
and celebrations in the Christmas
future, it’s near and dear to all of our
hearts.
So we were pleased to find that
residents, Red & Jenine Riddle and Bill
Michael
Escamilla
Executive
Director,
Kirby Pines
& Jeanne Goodrich were more than
willing to bring their holiday spirits
early to help set the mood for the most
wonderful time of the year!
A hearty Thank You goes out to
them and we’re sure Santa has them on
the “Nice List” for their help....
