Fred & Betty Blake
David Walters
Fred and Betty Blake come to Kirby Pines from
Germantown, Tennessee. They have 2 sons, Kent and
Scott and 2 grandchildren, Drew and Kelly.
Fred has had a successful professional career in sales,
working for Holiday Inn, Inc., Colgate-Palmolive and
others, having lived in Florida, Mexico, Europe and the
Middle East. Betty has performed office duties, worked
in a bank, a school and a retirement facility. They both
eventually became involved with the Germantown
Performing Arts Center, which they hope to continue a
relationship with, simply as spectators.
They both enjoy traveling and golf, and Fred also
likes flying, fishing and a range of music. Betty also
enjoys music, painting and bridge.
Honesty, integrity and consideration for others are the
values they try to live by. Spending time with family is
also very important, especially at the holidays.
David Walters, moved to Kirby Pines in October
from Miami, FL. He is not a stranger to Memphis,
having lived here while working for International Paper
in computer operations. David received a BS degree in
electrical engineering, and started his career in California
at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Plant. He received
his MBA from UCLA. He has a son and daughter, plus 6
grandchildren.
David is a tireless and skilled craftsman whose projects
include, the construction of a beautiful modernistic coffee
table, a conceptualized and constructed infinity stairwell,
and an amazing collection of music videos fashioned from
family pictures, street signs and abandoned buildings,
still-lifes, strangers, and works of art installed in a NYC
Subway Station. Alternative music is his choice for video
background. His favorite reading is political economics.
David doesn’t have time on his hands - he is spared the
need to ask himself, “what should I do with my day”. Ideas
compete in his mind to be put on paper. The next project is
waiting.
