Walk Across Amer ica
TAKE A RIDE ON THE NUSTEP
Have you visited the Oasis recently? Exercise has been proven
to improve physical and emotional health for people of all
ages.
The most popular piece of equipment in the Oasis is called
NuStep; the sitting position minimizes joint stress and lower
back pain. This equipment promotes a natural walking
motion while eliminating impact and stress on joints. It’s
easy to operate and adjust to your specific height, weight, and
level of endurance. You can keep track of your time while it
automatically calculates your steps and calories burned. The
newest model even checks you pulse. The NuStep is great
for helping you lose weight and improve your strength and
endurance in your arms and legs. We have three NuSteps (one
is brand new and one recently refurbished.)
We make appointments with the doctors, our hairdresser and
lunch with friends. Why not schedule a visit to the Oasis 2-3
times a week. This is a great place to start an exercise routine.
Prove to yourself that moderate exercise improves your health
and well being. Mary Hand is in the Oasis Monday –Thursday
from 8 am to noon to assist you with the equipment and help
you with your exercise program.
This year’s participants in Walk Across America Program
reached their goal to the Most Southern Point in the
continental US. We traveled from the most Northeastern town
in the US, Caribou, Maine to Boston, Massachusetts to New
York City to Washington DC to Raleigh, NC to Columbia, SC
to Jacksonville, Florida and finished at the end of Route 1 in
Key West, Florida. We didn’t get out of the record-breaking
snow in the Northeast until we crossed into Florida.
Our Grand Prize Winner of the dinner-for-two at the next
Exquisite Cuisine is
Fran Gentry
with 182 miles. Pat Mitchell
and Gene Wainscott were toe-to-toe for second and third
places with 139 and 138 miles respectively.
Thanks to everyone who shared their miles and steps to make
this program a great success this year. If you are interested in
how many miles you went, just ask Mary Hand; and you will
be amazed!
WE MADE IT!
