FLEXIBI L I TY
The Impor tance Of
Flexibility is defined as the ability of your joints and body parts to execute their full range of motion.
As one gets older so do their muscles. Muscles tend to lose their strength and size and become
stiff with aging. This affects the range of movement around your joints. Flexibility is needed
to perform everyday activities such as walking, bending, lifting, getting in and out of bed, etc.
There are many benefits that come with flexibility.
The benefits that are contributed from greater flexibility are less pain, improved movement,
reduced muscle soreness, and improved physical performance. Flexibility can improve
posture because tight muscles affect your spine’s alignment. Improved circulation is
another benefit. Tension in the muscles affects circulation. When the muscles are more
flexible they relax and create circulation. Overall, flexibility has many benefits which
can be achieved easily within one’s daily routines.
There are many ways to stay flexible and even improve your flexibility.
Stretching and exercising regularly, at least once a day, is the best way to
maintain flexibility. Stretching should always be incorporated in everyone’s
daily exercise routine. Stretching can be simple and can even be done sitting
down while doing daily activities. Yoga is a great exercise to gain greater
flexibility. Diet and nutrition are also a contributor to good flexibility, an
unhealthy diet can make matters worse. Flexibility is very important and has
many benefits. Try to incorporate into your daily routine for maximum results.
